Psalm singing is getting a bit of attention from some Scottish musicians who have issue three CDs of classic Gaelic praise. While their interest seems primarily cultural and historical, I am happy that classical Presbyterian worship is portrayed as something other than joyless drudgery. These guys are going all the way to the days of the precentor, who would “line out the psalms,” which meant they spoke the lyrics just before they were sung by the congregation.
